This week in Phonics we reading words with all of our phonics skills from this year.

 

To date, we have learned short a, e, i, o, and u along with qu and ck.  We also introduced double final consonants. 

We practiced digraphs:  ch sh, th (both sounds), and wh.  We are learning about s, l and r blends and final blends.  We are also learning about long vowels and vowel sounds of y (/i/ and /e/).  We have also been introduced to a_e, i_e, o_e, and u_e with soft c /s/ and soft g /j/.  Vowel teams are next.  We have learned ai and ay, oa and ow, igh, ie, ee and ea.  We also practiced  ew, ui and ue.  We have also learned r-controlled:  ar, or/ore, er, ir, and ur along with contractions.  Finally we have learned about consonant -le.

 

Spelling:  All students will review our words 76-100.  Students will bring home a review page this week.

Our final test is on Thursday, May 11th.

   Math:  We are completing Module 6:   Place Value, Comparison, Addition and Subtraction to 100

Science:  We are learning about Vertebrate Animal Groups

Social Studies:  We are learning about Economics
