Ms. Heather Kestner

Welcome to 1st grade!
I am very excited to be your child's teacher for 1st grade as I LOVE what we learn. Watching the students grow and express themselves at this age is so exciting. I am in my sixth year teaching 1st grade.  I have taught 2nd grade for 6 years, 4th grade for 2 years and 3rd grade for 1 year, and I'm excited to share with you and your student all the wonderful concepts they will be learning this year.
I have lived in the valley since 1977 and attended both the U of A for my undergrad degree and NAU, earning my M.Ed.   I am a proud mother of two adult young men, Lincoln and Wyatt who are living their best lives in chosen careers.
A weird thing about me is that I love teaching about INSECTS, these creatures are so interesting to me and I hope to pass some of my enthusiasm on to your child. I also have a deep passion for American History and we will be learning the preamble to the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.  We have a great time learning about the foundation of our country and the forefathers.
I believe teaching our future leaders begins at home with the guidance and support of the family, and in the classroom, obtaining the academic and social skills needed for success in college and career readiness.  Together we build the foundation your child needs to be a successful and well rounded citizen at any age.

If you have any questions please e-mail me at:   heather.moore-kestner@dvusd.org  I will respond by the end of the day.  I am also available to make an appointment to meet with me before or after school on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursdays.

Have a great day!
Ms. Kestner M. Ed
