Hello! My name is Nicola Newbery and I am excited about starting a new year! 

My teaching career began after attending Birmingham University, England where I obtained my Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education. I taught in England for three years before moving to America in 2001. I taught in Connecticut for seventeen years before moving to Arizona in 2018. This is my 26th year teaching and my second year at Sonoran Foothills. It's great to be a Bobcat! 

I was born in England and grew up on the Wirral which is in the northwest of England, close to Chester and Liverpool. While studying for my degree in Birmingham, England, I met my husband, Dave. It was in 2000 that we made the decision to venture across the pond and experience living and working in America. My husband had already completed his Masters in America several years before we met but it was my first time visiting the country. Soon after adopting two kittens, we bought our first home in Rhode Island and got married! We will be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary in August. Our children Toby (17) and Chloe (14) were both born in Connecticut and attended Pine Point School where I taught in Connecticut. My husband's profession brought our family to Arizona and we are proud to call Phoenix our home. Spending time with family is one of my greatest joys! We love to travel and go hiking and kayaking. 

Being a parent, I understand the importance of communication, especially when it comes to my children's education. I want to provide every opportunity I can to help your child reach their potential. I believe in open communication and working together as partners to ensure all students succeed. I will strive to create a friendly, inviting, and positive environment, providing the necessary support needed to meet your child's social, emotional, and academic needs.
