Mrs. Colangelo

Dear Sonoran Foothills Bobcat Community,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of Sonoran Foothills School. It is an honor to join such a prestigious institution, known for its dedication to academic excellence and nurturing a supportive learning environment for all. I am excited to embark on this journey alongside the talented faculty, dedicated staff, and exceptional students and families of Sonoran Foothills.

Allow me to share a bit about myself both personally and professionally. I come to Sonoran Foothills with kindergarten, first, and second-grade teaching experience as well as various leadership roles such as an instructional coach, dean of students, and most recently, an assistant principal. My experience has been in high-socioeconomic and title 1 schools, all high-performing. I have been with the Deer Valley Unified School District for the past four years. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s from the University of Arizona in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s from Grand Canyon University in Educational Leadership. I have a deep passion for fostering student growth, promoting equity and inclusivity, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement by supporting staff's professional and personal growth.

On a personal note, I am deeply committed to the well-being and success of every student. I believe in creating a safe, positive, and fun environment where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. As principal, I am dedicated to fostering open communication, collaboration, and partnerships with parents, guardians, staff, and the wider community to ensure every student receives the personalized support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

In addition to my professional endeavors, I am fortunate to be supported by my loving husband, David, and our two wonderful children, Jack and Emma, who keep us very busy. They are an integral part of my life, and fuel my passion for education and serving our community.

My educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge but also about instilling a love for learning, critical thinking skills, and the ability to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world. I am committed to providing a rigorous and engaging curriculum that challenges students to think creatively, solve complex problems, and become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.

As we embark on this new chapter together, I am eager to work collaboratively with every one of you to build upon the rich traditions and successes of Sonoran Foothills School. Together, we will continue to strive for excellence, celebrate diversity, and create a learning community where all students can flourish and succeed.

I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to continue making Sonoran Foothills School the best it can be. Please feel free to reach out to me. My door is always open, and I am here to support you in any way I can.
