?4th Grade News ?

  • Thursday, May 16th is the Last Day of School.  We dismiss at 11:35.
     
    Monday, May 13 - Chromebooks will be turned returned to the Library.  Please have all stickers removed and wrap the charger up as best as you can before bringing it to school.  We will also wipe them down with antibacterial wipes in the classroom or you can do this at home.  Thank you!!

    Module 2- Metric Unit Conversions

    Projected Lessons- 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

    PROJECT-The students are working on a project called Adventures in Math Comic Book. 


    Weekly Essential Questions:

    • How does place value help you to understand metric units?
    • When will metric units be used in real-life situations?

    Weekly Standard(s) Covered:

    • 4.MD.A.1
      • Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit and in a smaller unit in terms of a larger unit. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1,12), 2,24), (3,36).
    • 4.MD.A.2
      • Use the four operations to solve word problems and problems in real-world context involving distances, intervals of time (hr, min, sec), liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including decimals and problems involving fractions with like denominators, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using a variety of representations, including number lines that feature a measurement scale.

??This Week in Language Arts?

  • Reading:

     

    Last week, students read a story about the Grand Canyon while reviewing using text evidence to support ideas and explaining the meaning of descriptive language found in the text.  There will be a quiz on these skills on Monday for practice.  Other fun review activities will take place throughout the week.

     

    Writing:

     

    Cursive: No homework!!

     

    Students will be creating a Welcome to 4th Grade Brochure!  They will offer advice and other information regarding being in 4th grade.  Other fun review activities will take place throughout the week.
