Success Stories

  • The 5th grade ELA and Social Studies teachers from Terramar, Las Brisas and Norterra Canyon have been meeting during PLC time. They have been analyzing data and focusing on a noted area of need for students in "text evidence".  At our PLC we are sharing strategies we use to help our students be successful. We focus on this in Reading and in Social Studies. We are seeing great growth with our Terramar students based on quick assessments and classroom observations.

The 4th grade ELA/SS PLC at Terramar is proud of its achievements. After setting expectations, this group pooled their collective expertise to ensure all students show growth. Through pre-assessment, review of data, sharing strategies, and collaboration our group has established the most effective way to differentiate instruction for our students. Currently we are administering a common formative assessment that was written by all three schools. This test will give our group an opportunity to collect and discuss data and determine where our students may still need remediation and what strategies were most successful. Working together has made this process so much more meaningful and the team is grateful for the advancements it has allowed them.
