• New Immunization Requirement for 11 Year Olds

This letter is to inform you of recently approved rules changes to the Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) Title 9, Chapter 6, Article 7, and Required Immunizations for Child Care or School Entry. These changes became effective as of August 31, 2018.

Students will be required to have their Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine when they actually turn 11 years old, even if they are not in the 6th grade as was previously required.
Parents will get a referral notice prior to the student’s birthday and the shots will be due 10 days after the birthdate.

If you child has birthday during our Summer Break they will still need to be current by the first of school. They will not be able to start until the nurse has proof of shot records.

We suggested that during your 11 years old doctor visit, that you have a scoliosis exam.

Scoliosis is a sidewise curvature of the spine. This condition usually begins during the early years of adolescence. Scoliosis is an abnormal condition which requires observation and treatment by a qualified physician.

Thank you for making arrangements now for these required shots to coincide with your child’s birthday.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Nurse.
