Hello, my name is Jacob Pemberton. I am a Graphic Designer and Visual Artist that teaches Graphic Design through the CTE (career and technical education) dept here at Deer Valley High School. I have over 20 years of experience in the field of Graphic Design and over 30 as an Artist. In my classes I impart my years of experience in digital and traditional art. I also work hard to have the students become very comfortable with using a PC and online/cloud resources/storage, as that is now the industry standard. The students learn on the Adobe platform in Illustrator and Photoshop, and now also in Procreate for IPAD. We traverse the landscape of graphic design including: Typography, Illustration, Icon/Logo Design, expert resource gathering, Photo manipulation, Photo Restoration, and basic animation. There are three levels of Graphic Design:Intro to Graphic Design, where they learn the basics of the Adobe Programs and Procreate and create projects under my direct guidance, Intermediate Graphic Design, where they get to get into more advanced techniques, start creating works for others in the form of commissions, and personal portfolio projects that showcase their growing skills, and finally Advanced, where the years of practice and creating are used to further their portfolio and commision work, but are allowed much more freedom to explore and create as you wish. There are opportunities in the later years to test for the industry and college recognized Adobe Certifications.
