    Course Description

    Life Skills-This course prepares students for success in life during and after high school.  Topics covered will be related to job seeking skills, career exploration, job-keeping skills and on-the-job skills, consumer math, and language arts. In addition, the course will focus on self-advocacy, which refers to an individual’s ability to effectively communicate, convey, negotiate or assert his or her own interests desires, needs and rights.

     

    Course Objectives

     

    The Life Skills class will follow the Common Core Standards which provide an understanding of what students are expected to learn. The Life Skills course will follow the College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Reading, Writing, Math, Health, Speaking, and Listening. The standards are designed to be relevant to the real world, reflecting knowledge and skills that our students need for success in school, as well as to prepare students to succeed in society.
