About the Counselor
Hello. My name is Courtenay Douglas-Salisbury, and I am the Freshmen and Gifted School Counselor at Barry Goldwater High School. I have been an educator for twenty-five years. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with endorsements in Early Education and English Language Learning (ELL), and my Master's Degree of Education is in School Counseling. During my teaching career, I have had the pleasure of teaching grades Kindergarten-High School in both Spanish and English. I have been a School Counselor for fourteen years in the Deer Valley Unified School District. Education is not just a career for me, it is a passion.
Family is everything to me! I have been happily married to my husband, Matt, for 22 years. Matt works in investments at Charles Schwab. We have two beautiful children, Brendan, age 17, and Madelene, age 15. Our family lives here locally, and is very active in our community. We all truly love living here. Originally, I am from Las Vegas, Nevada, but traveled around a lot for my father's Air Force career. My father was a fighter pilot, and my mother was a high school counselor. They both now reside in Flagstaff, Arizona and visit us frequently. I am sure you will see us out and about around town. Please stop us and say hi. :-)
