• Performance and Literary Works 

    Syllabus 2024-2025

     

    Course description:  In this course we will look at performing and written texts.  We will dive into how performances are created.  This class does not require any “acting”, but will have assignments that include presentations on these assignments.  

     

    Units of Study:

    Week 1:  3 things (How an actor draws from personal experiences)

    Week 2:  Stage terms and directions

    Week 3:  Characterization

    Week 4: Setting, lighting, and costuming (Back of the house action)

    Week 5:  Play writing

    Week 6:  Create your own 1 act play (Script is due at the end of week)

    Week 7:  Create setting/scene for your play

    Week 8:  record play on IPad and present your play to the class

    Week 9:  analyze a play that student’s view

     

    Assessment:  You will NOT be graded on your performance abilities!  This class is an introduction into the ideas of performance and literacy.  While students will be required to present, they will not be required to perform. There will be an assessment at the end of each weekly unit.

     

    Assignment expectations: every student is expected to complete all assignments and participate.  There will be a variety of assignments that cover “front and back of the house”.  Students will look at what happens in front of the stage/camera as well as the behind the scenes work that goes into a production.

     

    Grading/ assessment:  We will follow the 香港六合彩资料 guidelines for grading

    Weights:  20% Class work      80% assessment    

    Scale:  all grades below 50% will go into the grade book as a 49%

    A 90-100

    B 80-89

    C 70-70

    D 60-69

    F 49%

     

    Absence/Make-up Work:  Students will have up to 10 days to make-up work.  If there are unusual circumstances, please let Ms. J know.

    Ms. J’s Basic Classroom Rules:



    • No throwing (yeeting) anything 

    • No cell phones and headphones must plug into your chromebook

    • Please remain seated for the duration of the class

    • No food or gum

    • Keep hands and feet to yourself
    • Be respectful 

    • Do not line up at the door, but stay seated until dismissed
    • Follow class procedures
