My name is Jake Jensen and I'm happy to be joining the team at Desert Sky Middle School! I was born and raised in Northern Minnesota. I grew up fishing, playing sports, and cheering for the Vikings! I moved to Phoenix in 2015 and have enjoyed the warm weather and hiking opportunities. Basketball has always been a big part of my life. I loved playing the game, and over the past eleven years have been blessed with the opportunity to coach players though school teams, recreational leagues, club programs, and training. 

This will be my eighth year of full-time teaching. I'm excited about teaching middle school physical education.  I earned my bachelor's of science degree in elementary education from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota in 2014. I spent four years as a general education teacher before transitioning to physical education. This will be my fourth year as a PE teacher. I loved teaching in the classroom, but I have a passion for athletics and helping students learn to live a healthy lifestyle. Teaching physical education allows me to integrate my passions and personal interests into my work on a daily basis. 

My educational philosophy is that if students love learning, they are far more likely to succeed. I'm passionate about doing my part to help students enjoy their educational experience and develop habits that will lead to a lifetime of health and wellbeing. My class is a place where students should feel safe and valued every day. I'm looking forward to what's ahead at Desert Sky!
