Mrs. Uhlenhop

My name is Christine Uhlenhop, and I am thrilled to be your Gifted Pre-K Academy teacher!  I earned my teaching degree from the University of Arizona and taught in the Paradise Valley Unified School District for 10 years.  I transitioned into a stay-at-home mom and then began working part time for the Madison School District in their Science Resource Center and Testing Department.  During this time, my daughters (Alissa and Hannah) were tested and placed in the gifted program at their elementary school.  I feel my experiences of raising gifted children will be beneficial to my classroom teaching.

I have worked at Las Brisas Elementary School for five years and love this school.  I am passionate about teaching fun and meaningful lessons that allow children to develop a love for learning.  I have always utilized hands-on learning involving science experiments and problem solving activities, which lends perfectly to our PBL (Problem Based Learning) school theme.  It is important to build a positive and considerate classroom atmosphere in which students feel safe and valued.  I consider it a privilege to be able to help prepare gifted pre-k students for success in their gifted kindergarten classrooms.  I look forward to working with my wonderful families and having a positive year filled with learning and excitement.
