I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I have been teaching first grade at Las Brisas since 2002. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri and my Master's degree from NAU. I am currently working on my PhD in Curriculum and Instruction through NAU as well.
Before joining the staff here, I taught first grade for two years in the Cartwright School District and taught kindergarten and third grade for 4 years in Bakersfield, California. I love teaching and thoroughly enjoy this grade level. While I do not have any children, per se, I do have a four-year-old adopted Mini Australian Shepherd mix named Baxter!
I will encourage your child to challenge what they know and to wonder about what they do not. We will build upon the six pillars of character to become responsible, caring and trustworthy young citizens. I strive to build a family atmosphere within my classroom and it is my goal to have each child leave first grade an independent learner that loves learning!
