    Classroom Expectations:

Students are expected to learn and follow both classroom and school rules. Students should be ready to learn and have fun. For behavior, we do the Give Me Five strategy. 1. Eyes are watching, 2. Ears are listening, 3. Mouths are closed (until there is a question or answer given), 4. Sitting up in a good position, 5. Hearts are ready to learn. Good choices will be rewarded, and poor choices will be handled in a timely matter.  Below are the rules for our classroom, rewards, and consequences.  Please discuss them with your child. Thank you!

     Rules:

The first grade rule is, Plant Kindness!

    Rewards:

Students will be rewarded for good behavior. We will have different rewards that the students and I will come up with. Some may include certificates, phone calls home, and possibly a fun activity of their choice.

     Consequences:

If a student chooses to break a rule, he/she will be encouraged to think about how to positively change their behavior and the following steps may be taken:

    1.  Redirection from the teacher.
    2. Verbal Warning- and possibly a removal from the group to think about the behavior and then a chance to rejoin the activities. A discussion with the student and the teacher will take place to discuss good vs. poor choices to help your child learn and grow. (Self-regulation)
    3. Students may be removed from class after verbal warnings if need be.
    4.  If a student struggles with behavior issues on a regular or frequent basis, the teacher may put the student on a daily behavior program that best meets the student’s needs.  This may be a daily note home, a points earned system, etc.  The parent will be kept informed of their students' behavior, struggles, and successes.
