• 5th grade

Fifth-graders will learn to use root words, prefixes and suffices to figure out the meaning of new words. They will learn various kinds of writing, such as opinion and explanatory pieces, as well as more-advanced forms of math, fractions and measurements.

Encourage your children to write a persuasive letter to a family member about an issued they feel passionately about. Then develop fun math problems to solve. For example, add the ages of everyone in the family and divide the total by the number of family members to find the average age of your family.
