    Grade 3

    2023 - 2024

Welcome to Third Grade!  This school year, your child will become more independent on their learning journey.  As we begin this new school year, it is important for you to help your child build positive homework routines and a greater understanding of personal organization in order to be more academically responsible.  To help ensure their success for this year and beyond, we strongly recommend:

    1. Establishing healthy night & morning routines.

    2. Having your child at school on time & present on a regular basis.

    3. Holding them accountable for using their agenda on a daily basis to help keep track of assignments, reading minutes, and important dates.

    4. Encouraging them to self-advocate for themselves whenever they have a question or concern.

    Third Grade 香港六合彩资料work Expectations:

香港六合彩资料work gives your child a chance to practice what they learned from class the same day, while building a strong understanding of that specific content area. Many students need additional repetition in order to cement their new learning in their brains, which is where homework comes in.

Your child will have a School to 香港六合彩资料 Folder and agenda that will go home daily.  STUDENTS MUST BRING BOTH OF THESE ITEMS TO AND FROM SCHOOL DAILY!

    • The School to 香港六合彩资料 Folder will include the day’s homework, along with any other important school notes or handouts. Please check this daily.
    • Your child’s agenda is very important, as they are learning to plan, organize, and be responsible for themselves. Their teacher will model how to use it at the beginning of the year, and then they will be expected to use it correctly for the remainder of the year. Please check this daily. Some other things it might be used for based on teacher discretion include:
    • daily behavior reports/colors
    • reading log/parent signatures
    • teacher-parent communication
    • Responsibility Recess qualification

Please help your child by asking questions about their day, their homework, and how you can support them.

** Generally, as long as your child is on task and completing their assignments during class time each day, they will have little to no homework. **

Math 香港六合彩资料work - can include: Problem Sets, Sprints, Pattern Sheets, or extra practice as needed.

~ Verify this by looking in your child's agenda. ~

Reading 香港六合彩资料work  - Your child should be reading for a minimum of 80 minutes outside of the school day per week.

    This can look like:

    - reading aloud to an adult/sibling/pet/stuffed animal

    - reading quietly to themselves

    They can read:

    - library books

    - fluency/comprehension passages from their teacher

    - reading assignments from their Reading Specialists

~ You will verify this each week by logging it. ~

Writing/Social Studies/Science 香港六合彩资料work - anything your child did not complete due to absence or being off-task.

    LATE/MISSING ASSIGNMENTS

Parent/teacher meetings may be required for students who do not turn in homework and/or assignments on time  to determine the best course of action for the student.  Consequences could include: extra class work time, loss of privileges (ie: Responsibility Recess), or Morning Reflection due to repeated missing assignments.

    ABSENT WORK

Upon returning from an absence, students will be given all of their absent work.  It is their responsibility to complete the work and return it to the teacher based on the days missed.

For example: if they are absent for 2 days, they will have 2 days from their first day back to complete the assignments.

*High frequency of Lateness/Absences impact a student's academic success and progression in the curriculum.  These cause breaks in teaching/learning opportunities.  Students will NOT be re-taught.  This creates holes in foundational skills.  If an absence is unavoidable, please communicate with your child's teacher regarding a plan to help support gaps in learning.  Excessive absences could lead to additional intervention requirements at home and school.

We are so excited to work with you and your child this year!

    Kind Regards,

♥ Ms. Betts, Mrs. Comeau, Ms. Hernandez, & Ms. Horn ♥
