Hello, everyone! I'm Miss Hopson, the art teacher at Sierra Verde STEAM Academy. In case you don’t know me, I’m 26 years old and I was born and raised in Arizona. The 2023-2024 school year will be my second full year of teaching, but I’m also a Deer Valley alumni! From 3rd through 8th grade, I attended West Wing (where I also student taught) and then Sandra Day O’Connor High School. After high school, I attended Glendale Community College for a bit before moving on to Arizona State University! In December of 2021, I graduated with my BFA in Art Education from ASU and got started right away in January of 2022 here at SV! 

As for a little bit about myself, to start off, of course I am an artist! I'm a pretty avid sketcher and painter, with oil paint being my favorite way to paint. I also love to build and create costumes! As an artist and nerd, cosplay quickly became a regular hobby. Attending comic conventions, playing video games, reading comics, and watching movies and anime are all a big part of my life, and I love bonding with my students over those mutual interests. They are always so thrilled to find out that I’m familiar with the things that are important to them. I believe that these shared passions have helped me to create a positive and inclusive learning environment! :) 

I also wanted to share my family, I have a wonderful little pup named Milo! He's a 4-year-old King Charles Poodle mix and I love him with all my heart! We’re looking forward to some exciting changes on the horizon as we move into a brand new house later this August!

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to another great year at SV! Go Vipers!
