Hi, I am Coach Powell !

I am one of the kindergarten teachers at Cayon Springs. I have a long history with cross country / track & field. Ever since I was young I have always loved to run and loved being part of a team. In middle school and my first year of high school, I ran cross country. After that, I fell in love with track and field, more specifically pole vault. In high school, I broke my school record and became our league champion. For my first 2.5 years of my collegiate career, I went to a junior college. There I broke the school record, became #1 in Southern California, and #2 in the state / All American. I then transferred to Grand Canyon University, where I won a few individual titles, and helped bring home 5 championship rings. I have had a very successful career in track. My goal as a coach is to do my best to lay the foundation for my athletes so that they too can have a successful athletic career.
