Hi! My name is Maureen Cervantes and this is my sixth year teaching third grade at West Wing School. My husband and I relocated to Arizona from New Jersey and we are raising our three daughters in this wonderful community. My three daughters are also West Wing Mustangs! 

I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and my Masters Degree in Reading in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. During my thirteen years as an educator, I have enjoyed teaching first, second, and third grade students. In addition, I am a reading specialist, certified Thinking Maps trainer, and hold a Structured English Immersion Endorsement, K-12. 

My educational philosophy is a student centered, hands on approach to learning. I will provide your child with many opportunities to explore, investigate, and problem solve using critical thinking. Daily small group instruction ensures my students receive personalized learning that focuses on their individual needs.

As I begin my fourteenth year of teaching, I look forward to an exciting year in third grade getting to know my new students. I value building relationships with my students and their families to promote the love of reading and the joys of lifetime learning.
